Meet the passionate individuals driving the movement

Marco Bardelli
President
Marco is a Singaporean, but his place of birth is Varese, Italy, very close to the Alps so he has been put on skis by his parents as soon as he was able to stand up on his own. Alpine ski has been therefore his passion all his life and he was a regular racer until his late teen years, dreaming of emulating his idols Ingemar Stenmark and later Alberto “la Bomba” Tomba. In Singapore since 1997, he had to cope with the new geographical location which was not amenable with his ski passion. Nonetheless he always looked at opportunities to promote the sport in Singapore and, after he joined SSSA, in 2014 he represented the Association at the then International Ski Federation (FIS) AGM where he received from them the accreditation of SSSA with FIS. This opened the door for competitive participation of Singaporean skiers at international level. Few years later he met with Faiz, our very first ski athlete to be registered with FIS been whome he supported during his competitive journey. A couple of years later he added another athlete to the SSSA International Competitive Team, Morgan. Besides competitive skiers, he works on bringing together under SSSA all the passionate skiers and snowboarders living in Singapore and have SSSA support the desire from many to start learning the basics of snowsports even if they live on an island very close to the equator. Marco is an active runner and swimmer and likes his gym workout so that he can enjoy the results of his cooking (apparently his risotto is a must try) coupled with a glass, or two, of wine. He skis mainly in Europe and Japan but sometimes he still dreams to wake up one day with Mount Faber covered with snow and ski on it. Marco covers a management role in a diversified international group and holds an MBA from University of Chicago.
